Völlig routiniert zapft Münchens Oberbürgermeister Christian Ude am 22.09.2012 auf der Theresienwiese das erste Fass Bier an. Mit erneut nur zwei Schlägen vollzog er den Anstich und gab damit den offiziellen Startschuss für das 179. Münchner Oktoberfest.
